Christian Martine's response to the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act

December 13, 2022 – The Supreme Court deemed West Virginia’s miscegenation (a.k.a. interracial marriage) laws unconstitutional on June 12, 1967, along with all miscegenation laws nationwide.

"Said another way, just over 55 years ago, people like my wife Andrea and me could not marry in many states," Christian Martine said.

Today, the President codified this decision into law along with ensuring that states respect and recognize when two individuals have legally married, irrespective of the sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin of those individuals.

"This is a victory for love and freedom," Martine said.
